About Cherished Parts

Two years on and here we are ready to launch.

Cherished Parts began two years ago when long term friends and business partners Tim Henson and Keith Williams started to think ahead as to what they would do to keep mentally active as they got older. Tim always had a passion for all things automotive from the London to Brighton vintage car run that he successfully completed in his 1904 Humbrette through to the latest Formula 1 technology.

Keith has a long term love of old aircraft and his fully restored 1915 Bristol Scout D, which can be seen today displayed with the Shuttleworth Trust at Old Warden, Beds.

Having seen the odd auto (such as the Top Gear TV set) and aero (Radial engines turned into coffee tables) component made into pieces of furniture, Tim and Keith thought this was the opportunity for them to combine their interests and to produce interesting and practical pieces of furniture and art to help save important components from our engineering history. As we planned our endeavour it became obvious that we should not limit our designs to our interests alone, expanding our portfolio to include all transport and sport based themes.

Two years ago we began our search for interesting components and forming relationships with reliable sources. Today we have all sorts of aviation based donor items from Airbus engine inlet cowls from GJD Services at Bruntingthorpe to complete Leonides radial engines from our friends at The Classic Air Force, Coventry.

We have reliable Formula One sources for Red Bull and Williams Martini components, many with raced history and in auto parts we have BMW engine blocks, Jaguar E-Type cam shafts and even a 1930s Aston Martin stone guard.

Some of our Marine donor items include a collection of circa 100 year old Teak/Mahogany Rudders and two very old (two or three hundred years old) Oak Capstans, thought to have come from a ship of that era but according to a curator at the Greenwich Maritime Museum, more likely to be from an old Windmill.

For something a bit different, take a look at our Battle of Britain display piece, a 1936 RAF Sector Clock mounted over a 1936 Air Ministry Scramble Bell on a Stainless Steel support with a brass Spitfire in breakaway position to the top.

So, two years on and here we are ready to launch. All our bespoke components are designed utilising the latest CAD technology and made using high tech methods such as laser profiling and then hand assembled by Tim and Keith.

Take a tour through these pages and if there is a product you like drop us a line or make a call to discuss options. If you have an interesting component suitable for conversion we are always open to discuss buying it or taking on a commission to convert it for you.
